Muchas gracias Vicent por estas explicaciones. Las voy a guardar como oro en paño para tratar de asimilarlas bien y tratar de usar ese método lo mejor que pueda.

En el apartado de "operando". Si no seleccionas ninguna imagen, simplemente te realiza la operación por el factor que tú le indicas para cada canal.
En cambio, los factores del apartado "result" lo que hacen es multiplicar la imagen resultado de la operación; por ejemplo, si sumas dos imágenes, puedes poner en result un factor de 0,5 para cada canal, y asà evitas que se te saturen partes de la imagen.
