Since Astrophotography is a passion of mine, I was hoping the Remote
Liveview would be helpful, and after tring it out, it again has
exceeded my expectations...

-The update rate of the live image sent to the PC via the USB is
really great! A tiny bit of lag compared to the LCD, but it looks
"live".

- As you move the zoom box around, exposure is adjusted to where it's
pointing...a movable spot meter!

- You can manually control focus to a very fine degree. They provide a
coarse, medium and fine focus buttons on the GUI. This will be an
incredible feature for astrophotography! I usually set up a PC outside
and remote control it from a PC inside. Now, I'll be able to see (I'm
sure refrash rates will be slow though) and adjust focus without
getting bit by mosquitos or freezing my butt off!

- FINALLY, you can set Bulb times for >30 seconds over the USB
cable...no more Serial cable adapted to control the camera! They have
a nice intervalometer gui to take exposures every so often as well.

- A single Full res finest JPG takes about a second, a RAW takes about
3-4 seconds...nice!

- Initial worry about Thermal noise with extensive liveview so far
doesn't look warranted. I took a 65 second ISO exposure in very dark
conditions and it looks bright and noise free...no hot spots! This was
generous exposure (about 1/2 stop overexposed), so it probably hid a
lot. Nice start, though.

THat's it for tonight...so far, it looks like Canon did their homework
with Liveview...it's not just a kludged together at the last minute
feature. I personally am going to benefit from it a lot!

Rick

Hola:

http://www.canonistas.com/foro.....amp;page=2
Saludos.
