|

Hola,
It is my pleasure to announce you all the new camera from Atik, the
Atik 16IC.
This new camera is positioned as a deep sky imager, targeted to both
the beginner and advanced users. The beginner, because it does have
low price, good sensitivity, ease of use, and excellent overall
performance. The advanced, because it can be also used as an
excellent autoguider camera.
"IC" stands for Introductory Camera, and it means that it's the
camera that puts high quality astrophotography in the hands of
everyone.
Both colour and monochrome versions are available, making easier for
the user to choose what fits him best.
Specifications are as follows:
Image sensor: Sony ICX424AL or AQ (Colour)
Resolution: 659x494
Pixel size: 7.4um
ADC: 16 bit
Readout noise: 7e RMS
Cooling: Thermoelectric
Computer Interface: USB 1.1 (2.0 compatible)
Full frame download: 3 seconds
Autoguider port: ST4 compatible
Weight: Approx. 350g
Power requirements: 12V, 550mA
The box will include:
- Camera body with 1.25" T adapter;
- CD-ROM with drivers, Capture program and user's manual
- Quickstart guide in paper
- 3m USB cable
- Car lighter plug adapter (for battery use)
A 220V AC transformer is available as an option.
I feel that this camera will be very nice, mainly because of the
excellent price-performance ratio, when compared with the
competition, who offers non-cooled cameras at a similar price. This
camera doesn't limit you, like the competition does. It can easily
do 20-30 minute exposures, allowing for extremely faint nebulae to
be captured in high contrast and low noise, even when using
narrowband filters.
The colour model features RGB filters, which will allow more
accurate colour rendition, when compared with the CMYG filters.
Deliveries of the first units should start during November.
I'm uploading a few images, one of the camera itself, and 3 more of
test targets with the monochrome unit. Check the files section. More
images will follow soon.
It has been hard work, but I do think it's going to be worth it!
Clear skies,
Rui Tripa
Saludos

Hola
